Sustainable Farming

The journey of a Gushe Buna coffee bean starts as a seed. Once planted in our farm, this sprout is nurtured by the sunny mornings, afternoon clouds, and timely rainfall. Our Farm is located in Kaffa, the birthplace of coffee “Arabica”.

Hand Picking

Two to four years after planting, small, white, highly fragrant flowers emerge. As the white flowers melts away, thick, dark-green leaves develops, holding our precious coffee bean inside. Our pickers look for only the perfect fruit to pick by hand.

Artful Milling & Roasting

From our fields, the bright coffee berries travels to our mill. The ripe cherry is then hulled, cleaned, and graded by our wet and dry mill. Milled and dried green coffee beans are then roasted at the same facility. Now the Gushe Buna coffee beans are ready to export.

The “Gushe Buna” family puts quality at the forefront of everything we do, from producing & sourcing the best beans in countries around the world to shipping the finished product out the door. We’re so proud of our coffee that we can’t resist the temptation to show off a little.

Testimonial

Sweet, baking spices, floral, blueberry, key lime pie, high acidity, orange wine, nectarines, peaches, jackfruit.

The big surprise of the Ethiopia trip this year was in Bonga – the capital of the Keffa Zone. Efrem was born in Bonga, studied accounting in Cuba then made a career in Israel. He then came back to Bonga to start in coffee, with ’17 harvest as his first export. Hats off to Moata who spotted this sparkling natural right out of the gate; Efrem, his farm and his coffee are new to the coffee scene, but serious and set up for success.
